The McKenzie Law Firm, P.C., is looking to award a $2,500 scholarship to a deserving student. We will award our Reforming Justice Scholarship to the student who wins the essay contest on the topic of introducing ideas to reform the criminal justice system in the United States. The final deadline for applying for the scholarship is Dec. 15, 2020.
About the McKenzie Law Firm, P.C., Scholarship
The study of criminal justice often involves the consideration of how to improve the performance of the system for all parties involved. This can include law enforcement, those accused of crimes, victims of crimes, judges, and jury members.
We understand that the success of the criminal justice system depends on people with a passion for criminal law who are constantly considering ways to improve the efficiency and fairness of the system.
Bright, young people who are interested in criminal justice may have some fresh ideas about how the system should work, to improve its performance for the betterment of society. By awarding our scholarship, we hope to encourage and enable young people to study the law and make those improvements.
Eligibility for Reforming Justice Scholarship
To be eligible to receive this scholarship, students must meet a few criteria:
- Currently enrolled in or have been accepted to an accredited university or college
- Submit an essay on the topic of at least 1,000 words
- Complete the application form listed on this page
- Agree to the terms and conditions regarding the awarding of the scholarship
- Have a GPA of 3.0 or greater, verified through an unofficial transcript from the student’s current school
- Be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident
Topic of Essay for McKenzie Law Firm, P.C., Scholarship
In his or her essay, the student should focus on an idea for reforming the criminal justice system in the United States. This essay should be a minimum of 1,000 words.
The winner of this contest will be the student who creates the most compelling argument for a particular approach to implementing criminal justice reform.
